Are you a nationwide hauler?
ABC Disposal is a regional hauler located in the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City Corridor.
How long has ABC Disposal been in business?
The Carter family started ABC Disposal Systems in 1976 with one residential garbage truck. Today ABC Disposal provides quality commercial, industrial, and residential waste and recycling solutions for local businesses and residents in the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City Corridor.
Where are you located?
ABC moved into their new headquarters allowing extra room for a growing office staff and fleet, along with three new 32 Yard Heil Half/Pack Commercial Front Loaders.
Do you offer recycling in my area?
When you call our office, 319-395-0904, the office staff will be able to determine what type of recycling, if any, is available for your address.

Can I pay my bill with automatic withdraw from my checking account or credit card? How will I know when it has been done each month?
Customers can choose to do auto withdraw payments when the account is set up. They will receive an email at the end of each month, notifying them of the withdrawal.

I don’t see any prices for dumpster rentals? Can you provide me with pricing for the different sizes?
Please call our office, 319-395-0904, the staff will be able to determine what size of dumpster you need and the pricing options for your address.
Do you shift the schedule for snow or bad weather?
We try and run routes on schedule and will make every attempt to pick up your waste and/or recycling as long as it is accessible.
Recycling Questions
Can I put glass in my commingled recycling bin?
No, glass is not recyclable at this time and should be included with regular waste.
What items are recyclable?
- Aluminum, tin or steel cans (emptied and rinsed)
- Cardboard boxes, fiber board and brown bags
- Newspapers, inserts, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, phone books and paperback books
- Office paper, white or colored
- Plastic bottles and jugs with #1-7 in the triangle on the bottom of the item (emptied and rinsed)
What items are not recyclable?
- Buckets
- Building & construction containers
- Glass bottles and jars
- Household waste, food waste or food-tainted items
- Hazardous, Automotive or Electrical materials
- Plastic bags
- Styrofoam containers or packaging
- Yard waste
Are batteries recyclable? If not, what should be done with batteries?
No, batteries are not recyclable. Regular alkaline, manganese, and carbon-zinc batteries are not considered hazardous waste and can be disposed of with ordinary trash. Please take other common single use or rechargeable batteries such as lithium and button batteries to a battery store that recylces batteries. Click here to learn more.
Residential Questions
How do I set up service at my new address?

Do you provide residential containers or must we provide our own?
ABC Disposal will provide the customer with a container for trash and/or recycling. The container remains the property of ABC Disposal.
What are the fees for residential waste and residential recycling pick up?
Fees charged depends on the location. Please call the office at 319-395-0904 for assistance or complete a service request.
What should I do if my pick up is missed?
Please call the office to let them know or complete a service request. We will make a note on your account for the driver to pick up with your next scheduled pick up.
Do you pick up yard waste?
Yes. Yard waste pick up is available beginning April 1 through November 30 for $10 per/month. Customers can also buy yard waste bags and put them out with their regular pick up, but these bags will need to be tagged as extra bags.
Do you pick up large, bulky items like old furniture or mattresses?

How do I suspend or cancel my service?

What if I have more garbage than fits in the container?
The lid must be able to close on the container and if not, additional waste must be bagged and tagged. Tags may be purchased for extra bags of trash. Tags are sold in our office and some surrounding businesses. Each additional bag requires one tag and this bag should be placed beside the container.
